The lymphatic system does much more than fight infections

  • Helps drain excess fluid

  • Transports fats from digestion

  • Supports a strong immune system

  • Removes waste

  • Helps regulate inflammation

Tip #1 - Receive a gentle lymph massage from a professional

This can be an incredible moment for self-care...so ask yourself what you need!

Continue to hydrate and notice if your pregnancy swelling has dissipated.

Tip #2 - Learn how to do a simple Lymph Self-Massage

Sometimes an amazing pregnant body still needs a little daily help in order to combat swollen ankles or fingers.

  • Gentle smoothing touch is an ideal level of pressure for activating the lymph system.

  • The movement of your body, including deep breathing, is the pump that moves toxins through to be filtered.

  • Gentle taps on lymph nodes and softly sliding your fingers (touching your skin) towards your heart seems like a small thing, but it can have a big impact on helping your bodies natural filtering system.

  • Deeper pressure will not have the same efficacy.

Try it for yourself...Do you notice a difference?

Tip #3 - Try a lymph massage on your little one

The same techniques that you use for yourself, are perfect for you wiggly one. Some parents find that infant lymph soothing touch can support deeper sleep for your newborn.

All movement counts to keep your lymph system going:

  • Bending over to tie your shoes

  • Bouncing baby while you sit on your stability ball

Be creative, stay moving and remember that Motion is Lotion!

Tip #5 - Activate your Lymph System to create 'happy hormones'

Any type of physical touch can lower your cortisol (hormone responsible for fight and flight) in your body. Touch also releases serotonin (the happy hormone). This creates the perfect combination for your body to release tension & anxiety and engage in your relationship with more enjoyment.
