DCBD Doula Learning Collaborative
Student Doula Bridging Program
DCBD is committed to investing in our local future birth doula workforce. Many doulas struggle to make the leap from their training to their work as a birth doula and small business owner. The DCBD Doula Learning Collaborative is a 12-week 21+ hours hybrid program that combines asynchronous, live online, and hands-on in person advanced learning and mentorship.
About the Program
The Learning Collaborative is designed for new and potentially not-yet certified doulas who have supported 0-20 births. Doula applicants must have begun and/or completed a birth doula training course offered by a certifying training organization to qualify for the program.
In addition to the coursework, all doulas who participate in the Learning Collaborative are invited to shadow a birth with an experienced birth doula, view recordings of experienced birth doulas conducting birth and postpartum debriefs, be listed as a Student Doula on the DC Birth Doulas website, and schedule a 45-min 1:1 coaching call with DCBD owner Sarah Paksima.

Meet The DCBD Training Team
Hire a Student Doula
Student Doulas are newly trained not yet certified doulas who have attended fewer than 20 births and are participating in the DCBD Doula Learning Collaborative (a 12-week mentorship post-training bridging program). Clients are paired with a student-doula based on geography and availability and scheduled for an initial meet and greet. If you and your doula do not “click” during your meet and greet we can work to pair you with a different student doula.
Student Doula Support Package: $800

1:1 continuous in-person support for labor and birth (4+ hours as needed)
